Selling a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offering is a slightly different beast than selling packaged software. There are many advantages to the SaaS sales process and one of the biggest advantages is being able to offer users a Free Trial experience. It still amazes me the number of SaaS sites that I come across that either don’t have a free trial of their service, or almost worse, they have one but it doesn’t jump out at you when you visit the site. The Free Trial should be the “Star” of your home page and other landing pages on a SaaS site.
It’s also important to remember that visitors to your site have different levels of commitment. Some are just gathering information and not ready to try it yet. Some may be ready to buy right now. Be sure you have offers that are relevant to your site visitor’s level of commitment at the time they visit your site. Some common offers include, “See a Demo”, “Watch an overview”, “Buy now” and “Free Trial”.
